I’m Dr. Begüm Önal, Founder & Principal Consultant at B-NL Academy & Consultancy. We support the transition towards safer, more sustainable and compliant agri-food and chemical systems through integrated consultancy, training and auditing services.

I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Food Engineering from Ege University, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Salerno, Italy.   I founded B-NL Academy & Consultancy, after working across fast-evolving agri-food and chemical sectors where innovation often moves faster than regulation and implementation.

With over 15 years of experience, working with national and international partners across Europe and Türkiye, I provide consultancy, auditing and training services in food safety, quality systems, regulatory compliance, as well as sustainability services, research, development & innovation and market entry strategies. I combine academia, industry and consultancy through a holistic approach to deliver integrated and impactful solutions.

At B-NL Academy & Consultancy, we deliver practical, science-based solutions that help organizations stay compliant, scale innovations and create long-term value across the agri-food and chemical value chains and beyond. Dr. Begüm Önal is actively engaged in national and international ecosystems as a council member, evaluator, jury member, speaker, and start-up mentor. She contributes to innovation and policy-driven initiatives across Europe and Türkiye, supporting research, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. In addition, she serves as a reviewer and guest editor in international scientific journals, contributing to knowledge dissemination and impact at the global level.
